LEFT HAND TECHNIQUE
The left hand remains in a static position. Its two functions are to hold the horn and depress the three or four levers.
- Make a tight fist and then completely relax your left hand. Notice that the fingers and slightly curved when relaxed. Curved fingers are free of tension and can move quickly. Flat fingers are slow and can produce physical problems like tendinitis.
- Place the tips of your curved fingers on the three levers. Each finger is assigned to only one and remains there:
- Pinky finger in the pinky ring (don't squeeze too much)
- Thumb goes around the tube is placed on trigger / 4th lever or thumb hook
- Index finger - 1st lever
- Middle finger - 2nd lever
- Ring finger - 3rd lever
- Your fingers stay on the levers and depress slightly, which activates the valve and lengthens the tube
- Your left hand fingers will learn how to move independently and simultaneously to create different combinations
